FCL, also known as container shipping, stands for Full Container Load. This term refers to a single shipment that has exclusive use of a container. Horizon Crest Hub Global Logistics are able to offer our customers worldwide Container Shipping (FCL) services for a range of cargo. FCL shipments are suited those who have large amounts of goods to send.
Related term – LCL – Less than Container Load – refers to the shipping of smaller ocean consignments, generally less than 20 CBM, which do not require a full containers capacity.
Ocean freight rates are the fees payable to a shipping company for getting their freight from port to port, determined by the charges set by the carrier/shipping company and costs of handling and clearing goods at the ports. The best way to negotiate rates is through a freight forwarder who would have access to more shipment volume and so can leverage lower rates with carriers.
Choosing the right option for you is dependent on what type of cargo you are trying to move. Ocean freight shipping offers large-volume transportation options designed for a range of cargo sizes. Full Container Load (FCL) accommodates shipments where all goods in a container are owned by one company, whereas Less-than Container Load (LCL) can combine multiple shippers’ goods in one container.
